Let's Go Brandon & Generosity

"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." - Ephesians 4:15

Let's Go Brandon. Unless you have been living under a rock the last few months, you have heard this very political phrase being used in our culture. The phrase is not an encouragement to our music leader Brandon Hebron (just in case you were wondering). What is a Christian supposed to do with this issue? Cursing our president happened during President Trump's administration and now it's here again with President Biden in leadership. The sad fact that a U.S. president has been openly cursed for the last six years, illustrates the nearly fifty-fifty worldview division that exists in the United States.

How should a Christian respond to such phrases regarding a sitting president? I would submit to you that believers must respond with the Bible. God's Word gives clear instruction on how a Christian is to operate in such times.

My counseling mentor Steve Viars wrote an article for his church that I wanted to pass along to you regarding this subject. Steve writes beautifully, eloquently, and clearly, so I thought it would be best to not write the same things twice. On top of that, he's a much better writer than me so I am blessing you by sparing you from experiencing something inferior. You can find his article here and may it bless you in many ways: https://blogs.faithlafayette.org/church/lets-go-brandon/

Cheerful Generosity

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." - 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

What a joy to see our church step up last weekend and financially bless the next Engage network church plant in Huxley, Iowa. It was our prayer goal to see God bring in $5,000 on November 14th through the sacrificial offerings of our church family.

Well, God blew us away by providing $11,688.98 towards Stephen and the future church in Huxley. I was blown away when I received the giving report this morning. May all the Glory go to God!

Our church is in an amazing space of generosity these days. We are going through a remodel ourselves that will require an additional $500,000 to be raised. To be able to look past ourselves, past our immediate needs, and past our normal impulses to sacrificially meet the needs of a new church plant brings so much joy to my heart! This is what cheerful giving looks like in the kingdom of God.

So all I can say is "Way to go church!" --- may this offering be the beginning of bigger things in the future. My prayer is that we will ever be generous and passionate about church planting in the future at Living Waters. To King Jesus be the Glory!
